Kitbull, the title of Pixar SparkShorts animated short film which was also nominated for an Oscar (aka Academy Award) this year, tells the story of an unlikely, but endearing friendship between a stray kitten and neglected (to say the least) pit bull. The movie makers brought these characters to life in such a magnificent way with all of the detail-work and character-specific behaviours. This short made me smile, giggle, frustrated, teary-eyed, worried, but most of all positively hopeful. Spoiler alert: it has a happy ending full of friendship.

“A fiercely independent stray kitten and a chained-up pit bull experience friendship for the first time.”
– Oscars
Not only is it a beautiful story about friendship that helps break that whole “dogs and cats hate each other” stereotype, but it also shines light on important topics (without revealing too many gruesome details as it is totally kid-friendly) such as animal abuse and the stray animals situation. Plus it also shows good-hearted characters that showcase that doing the right thing can have everlasting happy results.
