The Eve of Execution is a one-act play written by Latin American playwright, Jorge Diaz. I selected this absurdist play as my senior conservatory project in order to finalize my Theatre Arts studies at Flagler College.
As a Theatre Arts major at Flagler, you are in charge of all elements of the production chosen in order to complete your Bachelor of Arts studies: preproduction, production, & post-production. This included designing and coordinating the design elements (costume, lighting, set, & sound). As well as holding auditions, casting talent, directing the actors, and constructing set pieces.
“The Eve of Execution is an absurdist play that presents a post-apocalyptic world of death. It is set on an island where the only people left in the world are the primitive girl, Louse, Hosanna – the aristocratic bride, and her groom, the mysterious, Guardian. This play heavily touches on themes of life and death, as well as morality.”
The show was presented during Flagler College’s two-night event of senior conservatory one-act plays titled, “A Separate Reality”. Special thanks and acknowledgement goes out to the Flagler College Theatre Department for all of the help in making this production a reality.
